Health anxiety

Helping you to cope with excessive worrying and anxiety about illness and health.

Anxiety about health can be difficult and traumatic. It can affect people living with an illness, people recovering from illness, and those with phobia or fears about illness and sickness.

Signs you may be experiencing health anxiety include:

  • Constant or regular worry about becoming ill, which can range from food poisoning to life-threatening diagnosis

  • Hypersensitivity to physical pains, pangs, and changes in your body

  • Avoiding people or situations where you may become ill

  • Lying awake at night scanning your body

  • Living from scan to scan following diagnosis or the end of treatment, with heightened panic as a scan approaches, often called “scanxiety”

Counselling can help by giving you time and space to share and process your fears, build awareness of triggers, and find coping mechanisms that work for you.

I offer counselling in person in Soho, Kings Cross, online, and on the phone.
